The Marine's were called "Teufel Hunden" by the German's during WWI, which means "Devil Dogs". Sean wasted no time coming up with a name for our kennel having served 13 years in the USMC.
Teufel Hunden breeds working line Beagles and Labrador Retriever's for field trials, detection work such as; Search and Rescue, Urban Search and Rescue, Law Enforcement, Military and Service Dogs. Our selection of dogs is focused on health, temperment and versatility to produce the all around working dog. Two of our beagles (Hazel & Izzy) served USDA as detection dogs at their assigned airports. Photo of Izzy with her handler.
The Mascott for the Marine's is the Bulldog so our love for the breed runs deep at Teufel Hunden Kennels. We are proud to raise, train and show English Bulldogs with good temperment, conformation who have been genetically cleared of health issues.
Teri worked for the City of Orlando Fire Department where she served in the capasity of Firefighter/Paramedic, EOD Technician and Arson Investigator where she worked along side Maxine, who was the units accelerant K9. Teri became interested in Search and Rescue in 2002, joined a SAR team and began training dogs. Teri is the co-founder, Executive Director and on the Board of Directors for Florida Alliance of Search and Rescue K-9, Inc. Teri has trained and certified with nine K9 partners of different breeds in various disciplines. Teri was raised with Beagles and Labrador Retrievers but her love for all animals is strong so in addition to Beagles and Labrador Retrievers she has also trained German Shepherds, Austrailan Shepherds and a Austrailan Kelpie for SAR. Teri is a Lead Evaluator with NASAR and a Chief Examiner with AERIE in Trailing, Live Find (wilderness & disaster), Human Remains Detection (wilderness, water & disaster) and SAR Tech II Lead Evaluator. Teri has selected high drive dogs with good work ethics, great temperment, good conformation for agility and proven to be clear of health issues through clearances. Teri retired in 2009 and has since focused on serving the community through Search and Rescue by searching for the missing with her K9 partners, teaching other K9 handlers, hosting K9 workshops and conducting evaluations. Understanding the high demands of a quality working dog Teri has began a breeding and training program to provide others with quality K9 partner's. Teufel Hunden Kennels is proud to have placed some of our dogs in pet homes, field trial homes, USDA customs detection dogs, law enforcement dogs trained for narcotic and various disciplines in Search and Rescue homes. Sean & Teri are members of the Pierson Beagle Club, Tampa Bay Bulldog Club and Teri has joined the Bulldog Club of America.
1.) My life is likely to last 10 - 15 years. Any seperation from you will be painful for me. 2.) Give me time to understand what you want from me. 3.) Place your trust in me. It's crucial to my well being. 4.) Don't be angry with me for long, and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your entertainment and your friends. I only have you. 5.) Talk to me sometimes. Even if I don't understand your words. I understand your voice when it is speaking to me. 6.) Be aware that however you treat me - I'll never forget it. 7.) Remember before you hit me: I have teeth that could easily crush the bones in you hand - but I choose not to bite you. 8.) Before you scold me for being uncoopaerative, obstinate of lazy, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps, I'm not getting the right food, or I've been out in the sun too long, or my heart is getting old and weak. 9.) Take care of me when I get old. You too will grow old. 10.) Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say: "I can't bear to watch it", or "Let it happen in my absence". Everything is easier for me if you are there.
We raise Weir Creek Beagles who are known for being healthly, great noses and long lives making them the perfect hunting partner.
Our Labrador Retrievers have been selected from hunting lines that are clear of genetic issues, great noeses and smaller in frame.
Shirley Davis has owned, shown and breed Bulldogs for over 40 years. Shirley's love for the breed is contagious. I consider Shirley a good friend, co-owner of several of our Bulldogs mentor. "Gramma Shirley" gave Sean his first Bulldog, Lyerly's Joker's Wild call name "Jody". Later Shirley gave us Jody's half sister, Lawshir's Wild Blue Yonder Skye, who became our foundation bitch. Shirley has truly blessed us.
We start our labs on day 3 through day 16 with early neuro and olfactory exposure. Then we do startle recovery, exposure to different surfaces, potty and crate training, puppy agility, various scent work games and drive work. We do contract work to train puppies/dogs for their owner in various disciplines when the owner needs a head start in their training providing we have room for the additional dogs and time for training.
Before you start searching for a puppy or dog research the breed standard and any heath issues in the breed. Get health clearances on the parents.
